![]() ![]() A fan-made Half-Life 2 campaign that expands on the story in 1999's Half Life: Opposing Force will launch on Steam in February. Prospekt, made by Richard Seabrook, is said to be as long as Half-Life 2: Episode One. The project began last year as a kind of job application to Valve, and when that didn't work out, was posted to Steam Greenlight in June, where it was quickly approved. Half-Life: Opposing Force is an expansion pack for Valve Softwares science fiction first-person shooter video game Half-Life. Half-Life: Opposing Force was a spinoff of the original entry in the Half-Life series, made by Gearbox Software and designed by Randy Pitchford. Half-Life: Opposing Force is a critically acclaimed expansion pack for Half-Life, developed by Gearbox Software and released by Valve Software on November 1, 1999. The game was developed by Gearbox Software and published by Sierra Entertainment on November 1, 1999. #Was half life opposing force made by valve software# ![]() The expansion's single-player mode features the same setting as the original, with the twist that the player is cast not as Gordon Freeman, but as Corporal Adrian Shephard, a U.S. Opposing Force is the first expansion for Half-Life and was first announced in April 1999. It was the only appearance for the main character, Adrian Shephard, who has had a kind of loose canonical/non-canonical status since. Prospekt will continue with Shephard in the lead role. In Prospekt, Shephard is summoned by the Vortigaunts to aid Gordon Freeman, who is being overrun by soldiers inside the Nova Prospekt prison. Seabrook, 25, promises a "substantial, highly polished and totally new addition to the Half-Life 2 universe." He has permission from Valve to use Half-Life content and assets. Seabrook was the only deeloper behind this project. #Was half life opposing force made by valve software#.To play the alpha delete or renamed the ".Half-Life 0.52Half-LifeOpengl32.dll" file and then run ".Half-Life 0.52Half-Lifeenginegl.exe". These quibbles aside, I must say that this game has some of the best gameplay you're going to find and it is possible to race through levels virtually at the speed of thought. The other-dimensional levels sometimes smack too much of someone sitting around thinking, "okay, it's another dimension, so what would be weird to discover there?" And the results are sometimes predictable and seem inspired by 1970's prog-rock album covers. I think survival horror elements work best when they take place in the natural world for contrast and it is this reason that makes the office complex levels of the game the most thrilling. ![]() Someone said this game "peaks out too soon". It's just annoyingly long, irritatingly bombastic, and gratuitously gross. Players assume the role of Gordon Freeman, a scientist who must escape the Black Mesa Research Facility after it is invaded by aliens. It was Valves debut product and the first game in the Half-Life series. I keep coming back every year to replay this, though I must say that fighting that howling ambulating scrotum monster toward the end always gives me a headache, even with the invulnerability cheat enabled. Half-Life is a 1998 first-person shooter (FPS) game developed by Valve and published by Sierra Studios for Windows. An excellent game, with pretty well realised and thought out interdimensional travel concepts. ![]()
